Case of the Month- May 2015

The problem in this case is that the patient has too much space between their teeth which cannot be closed by orthodontic treatment.  Since the patient was anxious to improve their smile the alternatives were either porcelain or composite veneers.   Porcelain veneers would have cost 780-980 per tooth and in the event of loss or fracture would have needed replacement at the same unit cost.  We decided on composite build ups (composite veneers) as the patient, who is a keen sportsperson, could have any damage to the veneers replaced easily and inexpensively.  The patient was very happy with the appearance of the teeth following the build-up.

Total treatment time: Under 2 hours.
Total Cost: €760 (for 6 teeth)
Comments: No local anaesthetic was required.  The teeth remain exactly the same under the build ups which should last seven years+.
