Gum Disease & Heart Disease

A recent review of 500 journal articles and studies has cast doubt on the direct cause and effect relationship between periodontal (gum) disease and heart disease.  It is now believed that treating gum disease does not directly prevent heart disease or stroke.  The link may be that those who neglect their dental health may also be inclined to not look after their general health.  However gum disease can contribute to other health conditions.  We will keep you informed of any further updates.
